I have a Ek hatch with a b20v with a b16 tran and a 6 month old clutch the issue is when I drive I can shift good in every gear but when I try to down shift from 3 to 2 or even 3 to 1 it won’t let me I have to stop complete to be able to put it in 2 or 1 what can it be can it be the clutch

 

Did you ever check the linkage?

Has the trans ever been opened?

 

yes brand new shift linkage and tran was good for s few month but now this happen but was good

 

Odd. Sounds like synchros. I reccomend being easy on it if u have to daily it. Try to find an LS trans for cheap.

With an LS trans in your car oyu can rip apart your b16 trans and do a rebuild.

 

ok thankx but why will it let me go into them when I stop and when I start it does go into every gear soft and smooth but only when I down shift from 3 to 2 it won’t let me but beside that it’s perfect so what I need to change

 

Im not around them everyday. Only have rebuilt a few. I can only say I know what I know.

But think Diagnosis wise. Did the trans shift fine prior to your clutch change? Think about the parts in the trans. Shift fork? Did you grease the spline and throw out bearing? Are all the parts in their? If someone had your
transmission open before they might have forgot a detent *****. It could be a number of things. Wish someone on here with more knowledge could give you some insight but people dont really enjoy clicking on the "Help" threads.
