Default 92-93 Cable Trans...How to decode??

I just picked up a 93 cable transmission from my buddy for cheap. He simply bought a car for the body and never drove the car to see whether the trans had a short or long gears. My question is, can I use the number on the label following YS1 to decode the trans and see what it came out of? I did do some searching and found that both LS and GSR transmissions came with the YS1 label on them in 92-93. Any help would be appreciated

oh... lol you didnt say it was already swapped my bad

you can crack open the case and count the teeth, it sucks but i think that is the only way to know for sure without putting it in a car and driving it
