Default zex stage 2 cam

who has had any experience with this cam on their d-series? How is the power increase? My setup so far is i/h/e, test pipe. Would this be a good cam for me? Also would i need springs and retainers if i kept the stock redline?

D springs are pretty good..They should be handle that cam if those spring are in good shape with not too many miles on them.I say you'll get about 5-10hp out of it.

so i wouldn't need new valve springs or retainers then? If i got better ones could i rev past redline without doing anything else?

As long as those stock springs are in good shape they could easily handle blasts to 8000rpm non-boosted with the right cam.Hell,I had a gude gorilla cam w/stock springs that I would powershift it at 8500rpm and the rpms would peak at 8800rpm between the shifts and it survived. But I tell you what the car didnt go any faster shifting it above 7500rpm but it was cool reving it that high .BTW..that gude cam was really a waste of $450 cause it only made a slight diff in ET .08 and 2 mph in the 1/4....anyway even if your D was built, totally ported head with a wild cam it woundnt make power past 8000rpm unless possibly carbs were added to the mix...here check out these dyno tests on Ds..as you can see they all run out of breath by 8000rpm http://www.jgenginedynamics.com/dynotests4

well i don't think i'd be revving my d to 8500 anyways . Yea i was just looking to be able to rev to 7500. I guess i'm not gonna even try it unless i get springs and retainers.
