Friend and I went to a used engine place and spotted a really clean ZC engine. The guys there did a leak down and got the following #'s:
cyl#1 = 8%
cyl#2 = 12%
cyl#3 = 14%
cyl#4 = 6%

cyl #2&4 concern me, but am i being worried about nothing? Should we wait for another clean engine to come along?

can you do a comp test?

 

The leakdown numbers sound a little suspicious in cylinders 2 and 3. Did you have a compression test done?

 

no comp test, as the shop stated that the leakdown # were a better indicator of an engine's 'healthiness' *shrugs*

 

Yeah, a leakdown test is a better indicator but the compression test would probably verify whether cyl. 2 and 3 are bad.
