y1 gears in ys1 case HELP!!
i have a jdm y1 tranny with a blown up diff and good synchros. i also have a ys1 ( 92 gsr) tranny with a bad 2nd gear. i believe the synchro is bad on the ys1 but i don't have the money to buy new ones. im curious if i can just take the gears out of the y1 and stick them directly into the ys1 case keeping the ys1 final drive?? or are there differences between these two cable trannies..
also would this be a performance benefit over the origional y1 tranny??

bump i need help people. i would just replace the synchros but the kid that had the car beore me said he did that in the ys1 and 2nd gear still didn't work so im guessing there is a possile shifter fork bent etc.. bump
They are not interchangeable shaft wise...maybe just the 1st gear synchro and possibly second depending if the YS-1 is LS or not. You may need more than a synchro...it is usually the synchro, sleeve, and the gear. Possibly the fork depending on condition...Highly doubt that it is bent...you need retard strength to bend those. Possibly a groove on the fork.
the ys-1 is gsr. . would i be best off just taking the transmission to a shop and having it looked at? because honestly the synchro's and gears all look fine on it and yet it STILL does not have 2nd gear 75% of the time, it would feel ike it was in then i would let out on the clutch and it would just grind... then sometimes ( rarely) it would go in stay in if i held it..
