Icon5 Is this XTool Anyscan A30M a keeper or creeper?

As my 1st DIY scanner, I bought XTool Anyscan A30M from Ebay. After I plugged it into my 2005 Acura MDX and started to play with the Diagnostic functions, I noticed some noise coming from behind the Navigation Display/Audio Unit area of the center console. I’d describe the noise in two ways:
1. It resembled static interference of the radio (of course my radio was off and the noise didn’t come from the speakers).
2. It also sounded like a bunch of relays simultaneously switching on and off rapidly.
The noise came and went initially and became persistent later. The noise didn’t correspond to any operations the scanner was doing. There was still noise when the scanner was idling. The noise wasn’t very loud and didn’t alarm me during the one hour I was playing with the scanner. I thought the noise might be normal and it’s the on-board communication module “talking” to the scanner. But the next day when I drove the car, I heard the same noise from the same area as soon as I turn the ignition to ON(II) and during driving, without the scanner of course. I was freaked out and wondered if the scanner had damaged the car’s on-board computer modules. I decided to disconnect the battery’s negative cable hoping to reset the on-board computer modules. It seemed to help but did not completely get rid of the noise. Fortunately the noise gradually went away in the next few days and I even tried the scanner again and haven’t heard the noise again. But still I’m afraid of testing the scanner on any other vehicles in my family.

Do you think that the noise indicated some possible damage the scanner did to the on-board computer modules? Might this scanner be defective and I’d better ask for a replacement? Or should I stay away from XTool Anyscan A30M and try another brand or model?
