ok, i took my engine apart, sent it to be re sleeved, and i finally got it back, well, i go to check the letter stamped on the block so that i can cross-reference the crank to see what color bearing i need, and, wel, it was a number, not a letter. the number 4 was stamped there. at first glance i thought, oh, it's an "A", but i looked again, yes, it's a number 4. i am confused as hell, i can't figure this one out for the life of me. has anyone else had this problem???
also, i had never actually checked, i always thought that the USDM base Prelude was a BB8 (don't remember where i got that info, it was even used as a reference with my GReddy turbo kit), well, i had never really payed that close attention to my VIN number, but while i was cleaning the block, i noticed that the VIN number said BB6, not BB8. ok, does anyone have a clue which is which for sure???

A buddy of mine has a factory service manual for his lude. I will try and look in it to get the answer for you. What engine do you have?
where did you look for the letter? on the bottom of the block where the oil pan bolts up? there should be 5 letters there. each one of those letters corresponds with a number stamped on the crankshaft, and that tells you which bearing you need for that journal.
