wtf? car stalling out.......its an auto...
let me say sum backgrounds first, for a while now, i've been having tranny problems, every morning my tranny lags, it will shift gears really hard, and sometimes the RPM will shoot up b4 it shifts into the next gear, i have a 98 Prelude Sports ****, haha, i do fully warm up my car b4 leave everymorning. Lately when i would get to the stop sign and to the front of my neighbor hood, the car will die out,the car will drop RPM and the whole car will vibrate hard, and it will shut off, but after i drive for about 7-15 minutes, everything will be fine, including the shifting problem, somebody HELP!!
i tested my battery with the little cigarette lighter plug in thing, and it says battery is still good, and alt is still good, havent checked spark plugs yet, you think it could be my alternator? but its weird how its fine after i drive a bit
I love listening about Auto Tranny Problems.
Anyways, what gears does it shift hard in??
After shifting does RPM drop and stay dropped??
Car dies at stop which is probably 1st Gear right??
I'd love to try and figure it out.. I just need more info..

thanks for replying, it shifts hard in all the gears, plus when shifting to 3rd the RPM tends to shoot up before shifting, also, i die out when stopping, i guess when its shifting back down to 1st, and after it "shifts" i have to let go of the gas a bit so it wont shift as hard, but usually it still does anyway, i changed my tranny fluid yesterday, it all goes away a bit sooner, but not much difference.

while you're down there. pull out your spark plug wires & check for corrosion. usually identified as green and powdery. although it sounds more like a tranny problem

yea you may want to goto dealer for this problem....I remember honda had trouble with auto tranny for 98-2002 accords...97-2001 prelude and CL type-s
they recently extended their auto tranny warranty to 100,000 miles for these cars...it seems like you auto tranny is slipping and having rev flares..which means that your auto tranny will die out soon...just bitch at the dealer and get a new tranny or fixed with the warranty.

i had heard that one of the problem with some auto accords is that the rubber gasket/plug thing on the atf dip stick leaks......and water gets in the tranny
you say it stalls out when you stop, one time that happened to a friend of mine, it turned out to be that everything was still cold (it was in the morning) and the car hadn't been heated up yet, maybe thats it?
i had an accord tranny that did the same thing as your tranny is doing now...i believe it was the fillter in the tranny that got clogged by the clutch surface flaking off
Hard shifts huh??.. My best guess would be that some kind of Accumulator isn't doing its job and allowing Bands to apply firmly. But I've never opened up an auto Honda tranny before.. But now that I think about it, I did read about a auto-tranny problems with 2000-01 Preludes. Here's the article..

HONDA RECENTLY ANNOUNCED that it is extending warranties on automatic transmissions from select Accord, Prelude, Odyssey, and Acura TL and CL models The company states tha only two percent of these vehicleshave expeienced premature tranny wear or failure, but for customer peace of mind, it will extend the warranty period to seven years or 100,000 miles. If your auto tranny experiences slow or erratic shifting, haul it into your local H/A dealer. Vehicles covered by the warranty include: 2000-2001 Honda Accord, Odyssey and Prelude; 2000-2002 and some 2003 Acura 3.2 TL; 2001-2002 and some 2003 Acura 3.2 CL..
Hope that shines some light on your tranny woes.. Good Luck..

i don't have any kind of warantee since its a salvage, i think i may have to rebuild the tranny, any idea of how much those run? my main concern is stopping the "dying out" problem..
