Would this work?
I have a '94 GS-R. VERY strong car. I'm going to the track on the 8th, but have had no mods since the last time I went. I got an interesting idea, and wanted to come here to ask if it's worth it. I know that the stock airbox works well because it's sealed, and that if you simply take the filter off and use the stock intake arm as an intake, it doesn't work too well. I also know in effect, most modern cars technically already have CAI, because of where the air intake is relative to the engine bay. If I got an extra OEM Teg air filter, cut a large hole in the filter above the air pickup, and screwed the top of the airbox back in place, would I see a difference? This would be for track only of course. Would that not create an icebox-like effect, and just suck the cool air directly into the intake? And btw, if I did that, would ya'll recommend me resetting the ECU, and are there any other quick things I could do at the track (take off resonators, etc..)? Thanks in advance.
well, you could take the exhaust out(if stock),and you could do a diy ice box

you could also advance the timming a little(no more than 18 degrees)

wouldthe DIY Icebox work better than what I'm talkng about? Do you have a grasp of what I'm trying to do... not sure if I described it well enough
okay... do you know how the stock intake plumbing is on an Integra? The airbox has a hole in the back, where the little elbow of the filter sticks out, connects to the intake arm, and goes to the IM. This seals the box and causes the vacuum effect. What I was gonna do is (on a spare filter) cut most of the material (filter material) from the air filter assembly, so that all is left is the parts that seal the box. This would cause the air to go right from the plumbing where the air is picked up, to the intake arm to the IM. This would be track use only, of course.
ohh i see, but unless you have an itr the stock airbox takes its air fron the inside of the engine compartment, its not cold air. also if you do that there is always crap in the tubing that would get sucked in the engine so i wouldn't do it
