Default wont start trouble ls/vtec

i gotta ls/vtec, i dropped it in a civic and it wont crank at all. it just feels like the battery is dead or something. but i changed the battery and it still just wont start. the lights and everything go on. but when i turn the key, itll do the same thing as if your foot wasnt on the clutch. The only plug that i havent plugged in is one right above the alternater, not on the alternator. its like 2 inches above it and its like on the block. does that have anything to do with the starter?

plug in everything first, then check all fuses, make sure fuel pump works, check wires coming from starter
