why would you need si axles?

i started with si tranny in my si. it died. put a 4 speed in for temp. and now i have si again. if you use diff axles you need diff hubs to match. input shaft should be fine... shouldnt have a problem. almost seemslike there was a problem with matching up the input shaft - > clutch
