Default why would I have to plug the oil squirters?

I just heard that if you put an LS crank in a GSR block, you'd have to take off or plug the oil squirters because the rods would come into contact with them. true?

I know on a b16 when you put a ls crank in it you have to do that because the 89 stroke ls crank touches the squirters. You have to weld up the small hole in screw though so the block motor can hold pressure. If you dont do that then vtec wont come on

on some motors the ls crank does hit the squirter, u could bend them up, but if its built motor, the internals are deisnged to handle the abuse w/o oil squirting on em, so to me it seems more hassle than anything...

i plugged mine

drill em out, tap with 1/8npt, and plug em

Wtf. Has he ever seen an open b16 block. It has squirters. Even turbo DSM's have squirters.

If you have a GSR block you can use a LS crank. All you have to do is tap the oil squitters up alittle bit. I did a build like this 2 months ago, and it runs find. No problems with rods hitting oil squitters.

Before i bended the squitters. If you try to spin the crank, you will realize that the crank does touch the squitters, and would probly rip one out when spinning fast. Just hit it down a notch, and its all good to go.

this is true i just put my block together gsr with ls crank and the counterweights hit the squirters. i just pluged the up and so far no problems

At that point they are no longer pointing at the bottom of the piston/wrist pin, no?

It will no longer be aiming at the exact same spot, but the little bit that you have to tap it will not have it spraying at the cylinder wall or anything. It will only be off my mm's

ok... thanks for the info, now... is it even worth it to put the LS crank into the GSR? Looking at the dyno charts from importreview.com there isn't a lot of difference in torque between similar powered cars. I know that different mods will produce different HP and torque numbers, but, is the crank worth the little bit of torque over the better rod ratio of the B18c?

I wouldn't think that it would be worth the effort or the expense. Put that money into making more power and torque from your GSR motor. Why don't you add some higher compression pistons to help with the HP and TQ numbers. Besides, wouldn't you have to switch to ls rods?

yes you do have to remove the oil squirters. i have a ls crank in a gsr block bored to 84mm. has sleeves, crower rods, wisco pistions. befor we put the motor in we took the oil pan off just to make sure the builder put everything in. we spun the crank over and notice that 3 of the 4 were hitting the pistions or crank. we called the builder and bitched him out and he came down and pluged them. oil pressure goes up. this guy is a real **** head did nt check the clearances on the bearing either. motor is out and being fixed. i know i was in trouble when i saw the squarters. take them out and plug them. if it is built you will be fine forged parts of corse. 400hp@15lbs 250lbs tq
