Why is my VTEC solenoid valve leaking?

Yeah I used brake cleaner on the whole area last weekend, which is how I traced the leak to the gasket in between the VTEC valve and solenoid, NOT the gasket between the valve and the engine head.

I dunno, I'll feel better when the damn thing is actually fixed.
I'm a bit of a perfectionist and can't stand even the smallest leak of any sort.

VTEC oil leak seems to be gone. However it appears there is still oil leaking from other places and dripping down onto and burning on the exhaust header, as I explained in this thread: https://honda-tech.com/forums/tech-misc-15/found-more-oil-leaks-oil-dipstick-2736333/

You can usually fix the leak without buying new gasket and instead (1) cleaning old gasket and solenoid mating surfaces with brake cleaner and (2) applying a thin layer of HondaBond to the gasket. Then torque to spec.
Thank you. Local Honda parts department helped me figure out the o ring and top gasket, not just the one with the filter and problem solved. I didnt even have to take anything off but the wiring harness for those two fixes on day 2. Keeping my 99 rolling. I truly appreciate the replies and glad this thread was still alive.
This is a result of further inspection after this thread: https://honda-tech.com/forums/tech-misc-15/what-else-can-cause-oil-leak-near-cam-plug-distributor-2732064/
This is the oil I'm seeing dribbling down the front of the block and trans bell housing.

I looked closer and could definitely see oil on the bottom of the VTEC solenoid valve housing. I just installed a new valve gasket w/ screen the other day, due to leaking, but now it seems worse. I would say the previous gasket/screen was only on there for a couple of years.
This shows the oil on the valve housing.

Looking closer at the solenoid portion, I don't see any oil coming from the solenoid gasket area.

Did I just completely botch the install? Or could the gasket be defective? Helms calls for 8.7 ft-lbs on those 3 housing bolts. I might have taken them to 10 ft-lbs. Could over-tightening cause the housing to leak? I re-installed the housing tonight and was careful to go only to 9 ft-lbs on my Craftsman Digitork torque wrench (it was either 8.5 or 9 so I chose 9).
It only leaks when the engine is running so we'll see how it looks after I drive to work tomorrow.

Just figured out this was from 2010. But hey. Still having the issues. And it's a faulty thing that darn vtec solenoid mine leaks when it super cold out.

So, some additional info I've learned over the years. If you look at my pics in the original post #1 on the previous page (pic #5 specifically), you can see that the cam plug (the revised plastic version with an o-ring), is not aligned with the top of the cylinder head mating surface. I didn't realize until a few years ago that the hash marks on that cap/plug should align with the mating surface between the head and valve cover, according to the 98-01 Integra Helms service manual.
Also, for many years I was actually missing the RTV sealant that goes in between the 2 cam caps that hold that cap plug and the distributor. Without that sealant, oil can work its way in between the camshaft/plug and the valve cover gasket. The sealant has to be applied to the bottom side of those caps during installation, in addition to the RTV sealant that goes on the corner of the valve cover gasket. I believe this was the main source of oil I was seeing in that area between the camshafts and around the VTEC solenoid, for all those years. Once I applied the correct sealant, no more leaks. Like for real this time.
