Why is my car idling erraticly?
right when i get in the car its fine. but when it warms up to about 1100rpms it just starts goin crazy. it will drop to 800 them back up to 1500 then back to 800 then back to 1500 and keeps doin it. but if i let it warm up more it will eventually stop doing it. does anyone know what it is? maybe the EGR valve? i did the check that they said to do in the Haynes manual and it says that the 1 and 2 pins have 1600ohms going through it. the 1 and 3 pins have 4ohms. i'm not sure which to use since the write-up says to use the 1 and 2. and the caption of the picture says the 1 and 3 pins. and i'm not sure what they should be at anyway. anyone know that?
what is the EGR blockoff i read about? do you just put a plate between the valve and flange? will it give me a CEL?
any help would be great. thanks guys

Unless you know how to use a muiltimeter the Ohm number you'll get probably wont mean anything to you, by the way did you know that if your measuring ohms then you have to take off the negative batt. post first because electrical current will damage the mulitmeter if set to Ohms??? Anyhow, the erratic idling cold be a leak in the vaccum hoses or a small rip in the intake manifold gasket so check that out too.

if you have the EGR done - your car will idle funny - same for the Throttle Body Bypass also - my firiend had both done one time and his car did the same thing yours did - went from 800 - 1500 up and down very rapidly...freaked both of us out...
egr is something to do with the ehaust gas right - i think thats it basically your exhaust going back into your intake...like eating your own shat...LoL

EGR is Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Takes the exhaust and then brings it to the intake line to heat up the engine via a heat riser. Exactly like you said. Eating your own shat
Check your manual idle speed is set correctly. To do this, disconnect the IAV (Idle contol) and with the engine fully warmed up it should be approximately 750 RPM. I would be willing to bet its too high by 100-300 RPM. Using the idle adjustment screw (top left of throttle body). Screw it clockwise to lower idle. Reconect the IAV and all should be fine. Been there done that! If its ODD 1 or 2 reset the ECU by removing the hazzard/ECU fuse leave it out for 10-15 seconds reinsert it and run at idle for a couple of minutes to recalibrate ECU to the nominal idle settings.
