Default Why does everyone hate DC headers?

What other headers are good? I'm looking for something streetable, so something like a JUN 4-1 is not really what I am looking for. I just swapped my DC header off my car for some crap EBAY header for now, and it sounds so bad that I just may put my old dented DC header back on.

Are there other ceramic headers out there that make good horsepower while maintaining a lower tone. I'm not looking for a Brrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaappp
I'm more looking for a Brrrrrrrrrrhhhhhmmm, lol

IMO DC sport headers dont suck their just over-rated and some over priced...but for a good street header, DC is probably your best bet

I couldn't believe the difference in the tone.

i hate them because they are carb legal and i can't afford them, lol jk headers do make a big diff in tone but the exhaust/piping and resonator can be a better place to change if your looking for that perfect sound.

ebay headers just suck more

id stick with the dc and get a nice exhaust

no one likes them because they are very restricted to meet california state standards. you dont really want any restrictions. youre better off getting a decent header for the same price, and crossing your fingers you dont get pulled over

i would much rather run jdm itr header with both headshields than a carb dc header, the 2.5" collector really helps get things moving, i ran the itr header for a while on my s/c'd car and never got hassled by the cops for it, i also smogged the car with it on with no issues, the heatshields are key

I already have a custom mandrel bent exhaust that sounded pretty damn good with the dc header on it. I think I have an es tuning oval muffler. (not sure what kind it is)I'm probably just going to run the DC. As far as restriction, how much power does it really rob? 5-8hp? I'm not looking for the fastest honda on the planet here, if I was, I would have a turbo. I want something that sounds good, looks good, and is mildly quick.

This guy lives in RI, he doesn't have to worry about carb legal issues, you guys in Cali keep mentioning. Dc headers are really not that great for the price (considering they cost $250-300+) new. The only decent one worth buying is the 4-1 JDM version with the 2.5" collector.
The other versions of DC headers really don't make any power honestly. You would be lucky to gain 2-3whp from the regular dc header(s).
For three hundred dollars you can shop around for a used decent header or buy a rage header, I think their like $300 new.

I have a intake, intake manifold, header, and catback exhaust. All of which are decent brands. My butt dyno didn't feel a difference when I added these parts...

Yeah but how much difference would there be between a rage header and dc header? What am I looking at as far as gains over my DC? I already have a DC, but all I have heard is how they rob hp, but how much do they actually rob?

well for me the toda full race header worked great but im running an A/M hatch thats making quit a bit of power for N/A...putting one on a stock or fairly stock motor is pointless..just stick with the DC its just a great street car header

I'm an LSVTEC with BCIV's and CTR's, so I'm going to make decent power, I'm just not tuned yet.

I would step away from a DC header then if you having already ripped into the engine. Look towards a high end header such as Rage or Hytech, even the replica.

edlebrock header is would definitely be better then the DC, it is supposed to be good, but alot of people are running the hytech replica and are putting up really good numbers

Yeah but I am at the end of spending more money. I still need struts, tuning, and a paintjob. I just want the car not to sound like one of those retards with a 1.5dx motor and a fartcan. The exhaust and muffler I have sounds good with the DC. I kind of want the car to be at least semi quiet.
