Default where'd my VTEC go?? WTF

here's the problem..... (b18c1 obd1 in a 93' honda delsol)

.....my fuel cut off is where it should be and everything (8200 rpm's) but it is a consistent power from 0 to 8200 rpms...... at 4400 rpms i can hear a slight change in the exhaust sound (it gets more high pictched) but absolutely no extra power gain. I actually start to lose power from 5 grand to 8 grand.

*this is what the car USED to do ......... same exact thing as explained above (high pictched change in exahust at 4400 rpm), but before it used to start pulling a little at 5400 rpm's. (and it wouldn't always do it, seemed like it was only engaging 50% of the time)

......now i got nothing (anyway i could check to see if VTEC is engaging)?

FYI....
1.no check engine light
2.the delsol was a SOHC vtec....so i do have the wiring
3.I replace the whole distributer with a new about 2 months ago... so the distributer's newer

....I'm dying for any suggestions/info/help!!

Fuel pump could be dying a slow death and starving your motor = less HP

Good luck, anyway.

Oil could be low, vtec solenoid could be shot, the piece that holds the rockers together during vtec could be stuck. If a grandma owned the engine and never took it into vtec...well you get the picture.

it sounds like your butterfly valves in your manifold aren't opening. On the GSR VTEC engages at 4400 and the butterflies open around 5500 where you're complaining that your power is lost.

yeah at 5800 the secondary butterflys open. ther is a nother selonoid driven rotor that opens the secondary butterflys. you can keep them open manuelly but you will lose low end hp.

(my secondary butterflies where removed by the person who had the swap before me)

so let me make this clear..... if i'm hearing the high pitched "pop" type noise in my exhaust at 4400 which i am, then my vtec is
engaging......as for power up near 5700 rpms, i'm losing torque because of the loss of the secondary butterflies???
does this make sense?

i no for a fact that on a 94 and up grs that the secondaries int the intakemani open at 4400 and vtec comes on at 5600 after the secondaries open up

i have a 92 gsr with no secondaires and vtec comes on at 5600

just like on a new si no secondaries but vtec hits at 5600rpm

Variable Timing and Lift Electronic Control.
Where in that statement does it say anything about secondaries?
VTEC hits at 4400. That is when the lift increases to the high cam.
