Default Where to get a cheap block to practice on?

Hello everyone,

I've been reading this site for sometime now. I'm not quite 16 yet but I've been saving for a car for sometime now. My question for you is where should i pick up a used, beaten, maybe even broken shortblock for me to learn on? I'm guessing the local junkyard. I already know the basics of how everything works im very mechanically inclined and so is my father. I've been watching him for years. Also what kind of shortblock should i pick up? Finally what is most likely going to be the cheapest?

Thanks,

Turtleman
