Where do people get ideas like this?
I have to assume that the posted gains, if they're even real, came from the ECU swap that was performed at the same time.
I just don't see the point. As far as I know, we're not sitting around waiting for the ECU to finish its computations. I would be seriously concerned that the oscillator is used for some timing-critical applications (ignition timing or something?) and shouldn't be messed with. Even if there's no immediate harm, overclocking CPUs can make them run hot and perform erratically.

she said she has a 1999 civic si (99/00) style right?(says 99si on the dynochart) hmm she said this is a pic of her brother working underhood of HER car.
hmm..that looks like a ef with a sohc motor. =X

No seriously you can overclock your ecu to however you want. Hell I clocked mine to where I can travel in time with my car. Too bad I won't share how to do it though!

this may work, but I seriously doubt. that it does anything as far as gains. The reason being, that even though your speeding up the crystal frequency, that still isn't going to make your engine faster. As we all know, the only way to possibly increase horsepower in an engine, is to change air fuel ratios in the ECU, as well as timing. thats all the ECU does. I will tell you from experience in the electronics field, that what she is trying to do, is only possible in computers, not cars. in fact, changing the crystal frequency may **** up whatever circuit it's in if changed to much, might not even work. DO NOT DO THIS TO YOUR ECU, you will mess your car up...

These are the same dipshits that overclock CPU's in computers... They would rather put their whole engine management system at risk for a "free" upgrade. It will catch up to them, trust me. One day that girls mouth will go from a smile to a string of slurs not yet spoken before in the english language.
LB CRX what color CRX do you have??
edit: thats old.... i had that in the 90s now i have my flux compacitor and equallibrium weight distributor that shifts weight from the back to the front on launches
