where did the lsvtec idea originate?
i wanna clear this up with some guys from work
i was told norcal came up with lsvtec and had it built first
what about the whole concept of the b20 vtec?
where did these ideas first pop up under the hood?
i know ls vtec is fairly new, im guessing 3-4 years ( i could be way off)

LSVT conversions originated somewhere in Cali, I don't think anyone knows who did it first (I'll read that link above...) But it originated in the early 90's and is no where new. I remember being on boards and reading all the problems they had back then. LSVT was almost given up on back then. (They didn't have the ARP rod bolts yet...heh heh heh)

I remember in 1996 when speaking to a Toda Racing engineer he had mentioned that they tried it in Japan in 1990 ... so it originated in Japan is what I think ...

Hybrid engines like the LS/VTEC have been done for years.
I remember seeing it in 1993-4 on a old *** b18a block, and b16a sir1 head.
No arp rod bolts, and kaboom it went.
So the Skunkworks theory doesn't fly with me.

The early 90's LSVT blew up left and right due to the rod bolt issue, which is why most people gave up on it. I found out that Japanese tuners were messing with it in the EARLY 90's, but it didn't catch on well.
