Wheels Shake.....need help
Okay, about 3 weeks ago i had the left rear wheel bearing changed because my steering wheel and wheels shook really bad at all speeds. well, i put my stock rims back on today and now the same thing is happening. The right side of my car is fine but, on the left side both wheels wobble really bad when driving. Also, my steeing wheel shakes really bad.
any idea what this could be?? and why would changing my wheels back to stock affect it??
thanks
chris

yeah, i just put back on my 15's and now its fine. i held out the steelies and bounced them on the ground and they dont bounce straight up they bounce to the side. so i guess i need to get them balanced.
any idea how much that costs??

Well its where I would start off and get that out of the way. After you put your regular rims on did the car shake ? If not its defiantly the steelies. So maybe there unbalanced, or maybe the rim is bent.

yeah it stopped when i put my rotas on. the shaking of the steering wheel and wobbling wheels both stopped. also, when i had my steelies on, there was alot of slack in the steering wheel.

There are a couple of places in town that do a runout test with a balance. That will tell you if the rim is bent and if the balance is off. A rim that is bent will balance but with alot of weight and you won't fix the problem.

If it was tie rods or a worn rack, or a bad alignment those things would all occur with the rotas on to. Those problems would not just go away once he put the rotas on.

Thats right, but any good shop would catch a bent rim and not even try to balance. Your never suppose to balance a tire/rim if it needs more then 3 ounces of weight.

i doubt it,
it would probably shake like that with either of the wheels
