Default wheel bearing issue

i currently have a wheel bearing problem.

i first changed the wheel bearing when i stripped 2 studs in the front of my em1. i had a shop replace the studs and oem wheel bearings.

after a few days i started to get a humming noise... another wheel bearing noise.

so this time i bought new oem bearings and oem hubs. i saw the whole install... and everything seemed perfect. it lasted for 2 weeks... then the same humming noise.

the noise is really bad now, and i remembered that i didnt see him pack the bearings with grease.

QUESTION...

do oem bearings come pre-packed with grease or not?

any help is appreciated.

oem bearings are sealed and don't need greasing

I was recently given two Valve Trains
One is V-Tec
One is LS

I'm trying to figure out the year of the trains but have no idea how. both do not have distributors. I was told to look up the "Pr-"
But that is no help to me.

My E-mail is Update54@yahoo.com

Thanks hope to here from people soon!

were the bearings pressed in far enough? i know if you press them in and there not even causes excessive wear on the bearings

I bet the bearings are being pressed in too far. You can over tighten the bearings which will result in pre-mature failure. Spin the hub after you press in the bearing, you don't want it to tight.

Hey whats up again...

I found every thing I needed for the valve trains... but I was thinking about the bearing issues you have been having. I had an issue with the same thing about a year ago. I found why mine were going out. There is a little "Dust Cap" That sits in the back of the Knuckle (hammer in pry out) They are any were from $5.00-$8.00 I got mine from the Honda dealer. Sense I have put them in there has been no issue with bearings. (The guy that pressed my bearings thought I did not need them. So the shop ended up paying for the Dust caps)

Do you have an excessive amount of camber?

Camber should not be an issue. I've had between -1.5 to -2.8 negative camber for years and I just replaced my original OEM front wheel bearings last year with over 250K miles on them. They weren't even making any noise. I just did it as preventative maintenance.

hmmm sorry to hear that. If you switched back to stock upper control arms and kept some negative camber, and got it aligned, the car would probably handle noticeably better.

First off, make sure they are pressing in the new bearing on the outer race. They risk crushing the bearing by doing it any other way.

Axle nut should be torqued to 134 ft lbs and staked.

Snap ring is fully seated as well???

No Its not the snap ring. Its a little cap that sits around the bearing and over laps the Axel by a little bit. I'll try to find a pitcher on line to show you. But with out the cap my bearings were going out.
