what's the difference between b16 a1 and a2 bottom end?
i know there is a slight difference in the head, but what about the bottom end? compression, bore, oiling characteristics? anyone? - Wallace
If you're referring to the jdm b16a then there are a few differences. The first gen b16 has slightly lower compression than the second, 10.2 to 10.4. Also the second gen has the oil squirters unlike the first gen. Someone correct me if im wrong.

you are correct about the compression. but about the oil squirters, i thought all bseries vtec motors had them.
the first gen B16 had different cooling properties.
The pistons from my understanding are the same.
CR is 10.2 for all delsols. The gain in HP was from different profiled cams.

OK, if you are refering to the B16A as hte B16A1 then this is how it is:
JDM B16A = 10.2:1
B16A2 = 10.4:1
both have oil squirters.
the A2 has crank sensor.
the Del Sol is an A2
some did have an oil cooler - some did not.

A b16a1 also comes from a DEL SOL......... I use to have one. they came in the 94.
If I am correct the crank sensor didn't come until the 96+ models.(OBDII)
