? ? ? What's the best performance tire that can be driven in winter ? ? ?
I know people drive ther Kumho's in the winter and say they're fine. Lets get somebody who knows what winter traction means. I'm just buying new tires for my '00 Si. I need something with hard sidewalls so i don't chew my sidewalls off in turns like i do now. I heard TOYO's are pretty good but i wanna know what's good in the winter and summer. I.E. Not Blizzaks.
Thanks all

The tires I think that are just as good in the winter as they are in the summer are the Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position SO-3s 205/50/15. Traction in the rain is the same as dry. Makes you feel more safe when the roads are slick. I used to have them on my other car (sold). They were awesome!! Go to tirerack.com and check them out.
Any thoughts on the TOYO's though?
Those S-03's dont even have a rating for the winter... that's a lil scary.
Just curious...

softer sidewalls are excellent for snow, but really suck on pavemnt when making turns from the tires I have driven in winter/summer:
Toyos FZ4 - dry traction is fine, wet traction is marginal, snow/ice they will work but even recommended by any standards, sidewall is rather between soft/hard
Bridgestone Potenza RE-910 - dry traction sucks, wet traction is good, snow/ice also fairly good as well, very soft sidewall
Ceat - dry traction is excellent, wet traction sucks, snow/ice dangerous to drive, super hard sidewall
Michelin XGT - V - dry traction sucks, wet traction is dangerous, snow/ice, actually not bad, semi-stiff sidewall but squeel like a pig
JDM Bridestone Potenza Grid II - dry traction is superb, wet weather is marginal, snow (not tested) but very hard sidewall = dangerous in snow/ice....
from other tires friends had:
Kumho 712 - traction was fine in dry and wet but sucked in the snow, tires don't seem to last when pushed to the limit
Pirelli P7000z - excellent on all pavements
