what voltage to burn chip?

im trying to burn a 27c256r but i need to know what voltage to burn it at. anyone know. thank you in advance.....

Generally 12.5v, but it can vary by manufacturer.

the chip is made by ATMEl and yes its a R. 256R to be exact.....

im asking for the voltage because the program i use seams to burn fine but when its finished i try and read the chip and its still blank, i dont understand....
