What is valve lash?
I asked this question in the all motor section and i got flammed. so ill ask it here..what is valve lash and what does it have to do with installing cams...i have an idea somethin about how much "play" is in the cam or retainer or something? how is it adjusted...
i posted about installing CTR cams and i was told to set the lash at 7 and 7 so does that mean set the intake clearance to 7 and the exahsut clearance to 7, what does 7 mean btw?
.007 mm , get yourself a set of feeler gauges from sears, parts store, and follow the helms, chilton,or haines manual for a 2000 civic si to set valve lash. its very simple , just time consuming and not something you want to get in a hurry on.
- set piston #1 to top dead center
- start w/ the intake valves then do the exaust
- set piston #3 to top dead center
- then #4
- then #2
read the book its a peice of cake! if you need complete directions im me.

Yeah, I little loose and you get a little more noise from the valvetrain (arguably a ever so slight power loss).
A little too tight and you could be in a world of hurt.
