Default What is a Torque converter?

geez havent posted on H-T for a while...things been changin...heehee...well anyway, i was havin a chat with this guy today and he was tellin me about a hopefull H22A swap into a 90-93 Accord...somewhere round there, and he said he was gonna add a Torque converter...what exactly is a torque converter and how does it work? Thots? Questions? Answers?

a torque conveter is used in auto trans. to eliminate a dry cultch, it multiplies torque. it is made up of a pump, a turbine, and a stator, it is also used to stop the car without stalling.
