what tool to use for polishing intake?
I want to polish the inside of the runners on a 96 ex intake I will be swapping on my car w/ a mini-me swap. I wet sanded the first couple inches of the inside of the runners where the manifold bolts to the head, much smoother! so what can I do to smooth the parts I cant reach? Thanks!
you can use some fine wet sanding sand paper and do a little port and polish, or use a little buffer as well. i've seen both done
on a previous project i used a dremel with various grit wheels of fine sandpaper, and finally some tripoli compound and a buffing wheel to get that mirror shine on the exhaust side.
intake side same thing, except i left it a lil roughed up to help promote fuel/air mixture.

There is a company called cratex.com. They have rotary tools for p&p. They are an abrasive rubber compound similar to extrude hone media. They're way better than sandpaper. They will give you a mirror finish if you want. You have to buy kits rather than just individual bits. They come with mandrels and everything you need. The mandrels wont go all the way to the plenum but its still worth it. Kit #778 will best suit your needs. They go for about $45. Just call them up and ask where the nearest distributor to you is. If you invest in it, polish your combustion chambers and exhaust ports to a mirror finish. Carbon has a difficult time collecting on smooth surfaces, and it'll help with exhaust scavaging.
