what is sleeving a motor?
you should search. but ill tell u anyway. sleeving is the process of boring the old sleeves (cylinder walls) and replacing with new thicker stronger sleeves. a sleeve is exactly what it says. its a sleeve of metal used for something to ride on. need more?
Its replacing the original cylinder sleeves with usually a stronger Iron Ductile sleeve.
The original sleeves are limited on how much you can bore so most people sleeve the block to make it stronger and/or go bigger bore to increase displacement.
There are different styles of sleeves, but the next 2 pictures are DARTON MID sleeves in B-series engines.

This setup is an open deck style Darton sleeves, which doesnt have the flanges on the top like the Darton MIDs do.

Here is a comparison of a D16 UNsleeved block and the bottom pic is of the same type of block but with the open deck Darton sleeves.

If you are an experienced machinist and have the $30K+ machines, you may be able to. Remember that these are precision machined pieces and there is VERY Little room for error, if there is even any. Incorrect installation can cause leaks, movement, etc. For the price that most of the sleeving companies offer, its best to leave it up to them for best results.
