Default what is the purpose of a gsr head on a b16a ?

i`ve seen a few of these lately a 1.8L vtec head (gsr head) on a b16a block... what is the signifigance of this ? what is the purpose ? what does it do... i would think it`d lower compression and rob the motor of power at higher rpms.. does it do something different ? i could see it adding torque mabye because of the plentium and maybe allowing more air flow.. but, again, what does it do ?????
