Default what motor for my 4 door?

I have a 4 door LX. I know it's slow, but i also have other cars for speed. I just want to know which motor would be a good swap for it..... It's also an automatic. (THAT SUCKS) but you can still have fun with it. Id love to hear some input. Thanxs

B18B or B20B/Z, keeping it auto for daily driving.

Just keep in mind that there can be SERIOUS issues with B-series swaps using automatic transmissions. Depending on the exact car, this may not even be possible.

Are the tranny mounts similar, or are they off by a lot? I just thought it might be a feasible option.

I can tell you that if the car is 1988-1991, swapping in an automatic transmission is going to be extremely difficult at best. Your typical Hasport kit will not work with an automatic transmission. So custom fabrication will be required. And that is working under the assumption that the transmission will actually fit there in the first place. Which brings me to the issue of transmission size. Simply put, automatic transmissions are MUCH bigger than manual transmissions. I don't know that there will even be room in the first place.

My recommedation: if you MUST have an automatic, keep it stock or swap in another D-series motor. Swapping in another D-series motor will allow you to keep your stock transmission. Otherwise, convert to manual.
