My friend put a brand new obx cam, crower springs and retainers, in his y8 head. ran it for less than 80 miles and than you could hear a tremendous ammount of noise coming from the valve train and you could tell it was running on 3 cyl. he took the valve cover off and the metal retainers thet hold the lifters on the cam lobe in the exhaust side that look like

the o being the spark plug tube and the m being the retainer thing that he broke. any way one of those was broken and the lifters ground down on the cam bad and destroyed it, the lifters are all messed up too almost every exhaust lifter and lobe are bad. this is a stage one cam and stock lifters. does any one know what went wrong. is it safe to use aftermarkes valve springs on a stock or almost stock cam? please help... thanks
