Default What gas do I use to pass smog?

So I have to pass smog again.
I'm thinking of ways that might help
I always fill up with shell, should I use Premium or just the regular stuff?
I know it runs a little quieter on the mid grade stuff but it just might be me.
What do you guys suggest?
Thanks

Do you guys actually understand what octane helps with and what the cons are of running it?

The octane that your engine was tuned for would be best for a smog check.

Higher octane means more resistance to ignition, and you want all of the fuel to burn as easily as possible for a smog test. In addition, most premium fuels have detergents and such to clean out the fuel system, and the last thing you want is any of that gunk being burned during a smog test.

That means regular low grade on a stock engine.

And consider a bottle of

Us smog tech's recommend what the manufacture suggests. So Regular it is.

Remember if you run cleaners, such as injector cleaner, run it completely out of the system.

It's not really going to matter which grade of gasoline you use if your engine is running properly.

Its post like these that are making Honda-Tech a shitty place to get advice, that's just uncalled for. Especially since you didn't even give any reasons why your opinion might be right.

not sure if it'll make much of a diff, but i'll throw it out there. i hear stories where you can try E-85 with slightly bigger injectors...440cc injectors are what i've heard to maintain performance and get better emissions.

One would need to retune for E85, before it will run right.

E85 needs more fuel for the same amount of air.

Though, I suppose an engine running rich could be leaned out with some E85 added to the tank, the challenge would be getting the mixture right to not run lean, which raises NOx pollution.

You need to post the numbers for some help. Any additive you try adding to the tank is not going to work. There is something fundamentally wrong with your engine.

How should I use this heet stuff? Cuz it says it treats 20 gallons of gas but I'm guessing I won't want it that diluted to pass smog right?

Buy regular, all gas in the U.S. is the same octane

I'll post my umbers later
My timing was 19 TDC
The tech told me I have an air leak and too much built up carbon in my engine

I have a sohc zc with dc sport header AEM CAI and tanabe medalion exhaust.
Car is a 91 crx
I set the timing on the cam gear back two degrees, so I assume now it's at 17 TDC
I checked my fuel pressure and it's at 42-43 psi
I had changed my oil and poured some engine restore in, had 400 miles on it so far
I know my IACV is going out so I cleaned it real good before the test

What does the iso heet do?
Do I run it through or run it in the tank during the test?

Yeah I'm wondering the same thing, and how much fuel should I add it too? Cuz it says 20 gallons but I don't have a 20 gallon tank obviously and I know it's not intended for passing smog, so should I add it to like a half tank or 1/4 or what?
