what does the timing banlancer do?
hmmm...not sure what that means, are you talking about the balancer on your timming belt? if soo, you're talking about a 2lt or bigger engine, right?

It reduces vibration. The balancer shafts need to be properly timed to work right.

it spins at either twice the speed of the crank or half the speed of the crank (i can't remember), but it cancels the vibrations made from the crank, it makes the engine more smooth and it's only used on engines that are 2lt or more...
dont they also block off the oil passage maintaining oil pressure in the engine, like if you took the shafts out then you wouldnt have oil pressure. or at least thats what i read in a magazine in a rage article

well, they are just like the bearings on the engines, they need oil pressure, if you take the shaft out that will leave everything open and you won't get pressure at all since you're loosing it right there.

huh? i don't get it, when you're doing the timming belt you have to align the balancer with the mark

You might want to install a balancer seal retainer if it doesn't already have one.

You're talking about Preludes and Accords huh?.. I don't even use a screw. I just use whatever is lying around and will fit through the opening. I shove it in there and take a rough measure and bolt it back together.. I've never had a problem.. Have fun..

So does this mean that they are on B20s and not B18s? Or can you get one for a B20. Um, yea, If you can't tell, I'm going B20.

don't quote me, but i think the B20 doesn't have it, is not a rule, is more like a rule of thumb, either way some car have them and some don't....

you'll loose a lil power and get in return a smoother engine, but is not something you can add, add least not easily, they are built in the block

so the pulley doesn't moves around, it's just there to make the work easier/faster, remember that you have to align the balancer shaft pulley with a mark on the block
