What do you guys know ?
Hey guys, whats up. I have been hearing a lot about the SC300's and what you can do with them in regards to performance. Can you please tell me what exactly people are doing with these cars and what is the most common setup with this particular vehicle. Thanks in advance.
Come on man, what motor are these cars capable of running. The reason why I am asking this is because, I am thinking of selling my 99 civic coupe (H22 powered) and buying a lexus sc 300 to play with. I wanna know what motors are common with this car and what quarter mile times are expected just to compare it with mine to see if its worth the time to start all over again with a different car.
The sc300 has a 2jz-ge. The same motor as a non-turbo Supra. Main difference is its a luxury car and weighs a lot more. Why not just get a Supra?
you can go w/ teh 2jz or the 1jz soarer motor, but then again why not just get a supra, or just turbo the SC300 motor, i hear they can hold a bit of boost stock
then again this is honda-tech.... what do we know or what do we care to know

Well because I like all cars and really don't care what specifics this board is for, I'll answer.
The SC300 is a whole lot of goodness. Especially when you can find a semi-rare 5 speed SC300, then you've really got something. One of my best friends owns this car and is selling it right now. The reason it's great: good looks, great engine, great overall feel. Speaking of the engine potential, both Toyomoto and FMAX make turbo kits for this car, and the Toyomoto kit (while very expensive) makes amazing power. If you dig around a bit on Kazaa you can find a few videos of an 800hp SC300 eating all sorts of supercars alive. This motor is endowed with the same basic strength of the Supra TT motor, and takes extremely well to turbocharging. The overall feel of the car is one of sophistication and solidity, while it isn't especially nimble it is trustworthy and adept in most situations. The only problems arise from what is going to be a car that's at least several years old, and those years do come with a price. The reason my friend is selling his is that he has constant small problems with elusive CEL's and other little flaws, and it's not cheap to fix any of them. With all the potential this car has, the bottom line is that you'd better have plenty of cash to realize it otherwise you'll regret an SC300 purchase.

Thanks guys for all your input, really appreciate it. And to all those who kept saying "HONDA tech", I know this is a honda site only and I do own a honda, infact it is one of the most fastest coupes in Toronto, I just wanted to know what you guys thought about the SC300's thats all. I am not trying to be smart, rather just curious. Thanks to all for their input. (not trying to make any enemies here)
