Default What to do, oh what to do. (help me spend $2000)

welp, heres the scenario. i have a 95 automatic sol.

right out, i have to convert the tranny. thats an easy 450 in parts.

after that, i have 1550 to spend... heres my options:

option one
d16z6 block and head. $300
new pistons and rings ($20 from honda) $80
intake/exhaust $250
t25 junkyard turbo (resealed) $200
misc turbo setup parts $350
hondata $500
port and polish (my work, so 'free')

so what do you think these are price quotes from someone thats done it. so, i should be good more or less.

of corse this wont be perfectly reliable, but you know...

option 2
same as above, except.. no turbo, and performance pistons/rings/cam. more reliable, not as fast.

option 3
some b16 and supporting mods...

option 4
some other swap that i cant think of for that price.

goal
basicly, i only wanna run like 14's. 14 flat would be niiiice, but you know how it is, lol. but seriously, breaking into 14's would be nice.

any help would be nice. thanks in advance guys.

LSVT sounds good or b16. If your doing an engine swap you can maybe forget about the 400 dollars in parts to convert your tranny, except for fabricating stuff. If you want reliability stay far away from turbo. Maybe you could settle for a ZC/bolt on's and maybe nos.

Experts correct me if im wrong pls.

Your not gonna build an LS/VTEC with $1550. Sorry man. You wont even be able to swap in a B16 with $1550. Not if your going to convert to a 5-speed. I know you dont wanna hear this, but seriously, sell your auto and get a 5-speed. If you price the car right, your auto will be gone and you can have a 95 Si 5-speed in a few weeks. Then, you will not have to spend any money on the 5-speed conversion, and you can get your b16 swap or whatever you choose to do.

car is salvage, too much extras put on it that are literaly impossible to swap onto what would be the new car.

get the whole sohc swap at once, to save some money. i've seen em go for 500 full swap, u just gotta look for em. 550 for turbo and misc. parts isn't gonna get you anywhere close to a decent turbo setup. if you're going to rip apart the block, why factory replacement pistons and rods to run turbo? get forged. for 1550, you're not gonna get much in the way of b16. remember you need a b16a3 or a2 to pass emissions.

well, im planning to run my engine till i completely finish this engine outside of the car.
the reason to not get the forged pistons is $$$.

what would a ported and polished d16 with good pistons/rods hondata i/h/e run?

Honestly money doesn't go that far.

Save your 450 and don't do the conversion to manual yet.

Work your *** off for another 6 months and save for a B18C1 swap. Going rate is 3200.

Or http://www.importbuilders.com quoted me a B20 with a SI tranny swap at 3200. Nice torque.

But honeslty, if you have to convert to manual you might as well swap. You will loose out if you don't.

B16 with ITR cams, valvesprings, Intake mani, maybe mill the head and headgasket for some compression, and youll have a 14 sec car easy.

If I was you, I would just work my a$$ off for a few more months and save. You want it done right, and don't be cheap, cause it's gonna cost you in the long run. If your goal is 14's, just do a b16 swap, and later get all the bolt on's like cams i/h/e etc. i wouldn't do turbo, unless you have the money to get it done right. my friend bought a 92 hatch completely stock with 90 k, and put on a 2.5g turbo. It was fun for like a month, but the motor gave up and blew. Now he has to save for a new motor.

build up the motor for like $1,000 and then put a big *** shot of nitrous on it and then save up for a wile and put a junkyard turbo on it with the nitrous. (i have a 94 sol that will be reciving a nitrous kit soon)
