i remember when i did a 96 ls swap in my 90 hb i wondered what taht was too, it COULD be map sensor but im not 100 percent sure.

no u can see the map on the t/b
there is a hose about 3 foot long comin off of it

Toss it. If you are not going to use OBD-2, then its useless! And it IS a EVAP purge solenoid/sensor. Emissions crap for 96+ vehicles.
