everytime i start my car and begin to drive, (doesn't matter if reverse or first/second gear), around 1500 rpm's there is a loud grinding noise. i dunno what the sound could be, its odd because it only happens when i turn on my car and drive, never when im at a stop light. it sounds worse when i the car is cold, i've changed the transmission fluid (OEM honda MTF) but this failed to fix the sound. has anyone had this problem before?

 

its only at around 1500 rpms; or does it start at 1500 rpms?
im assuming its rpms related and not speed right?

 

yah its rpm related, only happens when i turn on the car, not when im sitting at a red light. the grind only lasts for like a second at 15-1700 rpm, i tried every different way of starting from a stop (even tried 3rd gear :S) nothing worked. any other suggestions

 

How many miles on the transmission?

 

i live in canada but i have 125k which is roughly 78000 miles average for a 1999 car.

 

Does the grinding stop when the clutch is engaged?

 

no it only happens when i start to move my car after its been turned on. it makes the sound whether or not my foot is on the clutch as long as its in a gear.

 

flywheel???? damn i don't know...good luck though...bump

 

my friends crx did the same thing, it was a internal trans problem. Some of the syncros or something was worn.
