Default Weird cel/temp gauge problem in a k swapped car

Ok, first off the car in question is a k24 powered 2000 si on tuned on k pro if any of that matters.

Now on to the problem,
While driving long(ish) distances like 20-40 miles or so my check engine light will come on after about 10-15 min. and then my temp gauge will go all the way up to "hot" for a while and then after about another 10 min will go back down to normal temp levels and the cel will turn back off.

This is all happening while cruising consistently at 65 on the highway and i know the car has plenty of coolant in it and it isnt driving weird or running hot.

Any ideas? TIA!
