Default Way to turn vtec on all the time?

I'm looking for a way to have my vtec engaged all the time on my d-series.

Is there any electronic way to do that?

To answer the inevitable question, I'm trying to find out why my vtec isn't working...and I've already tried running a 12v wire to the solenoid while the car was idling. The solenoid clicked, but there was no effect on idle quality.

Probably because there isn't enough oil pressure at idle to lock the rocker arms.

You are going about troubleshooting this the wrong way.

First of all, what engine, what car, what ECU, what have you done to it, is the Check Engine light on, is the engine at operating temperature, and is the VSS putting out a signal?

Let me save you some typing and say that everything on the car works, there are no CELs, nor have there been since I wired up the vtec 2.5 years ago. I went to the dyno back in September to get the car baselined and vtec is not engaging. Power peak was at 5050rpm, the A/F ratio was 12.8:1. Trust me when I say that it's not engaging, or ever has since I swapped in the vtec motor. Of course, I went along fat dumb and happy until I got the car dynoed.

I am trying to find out if the problem is with my computer or the engine itself. My next step is to install a vtec light to see if the computer is sending the signal or not.

Here lemme share some Vtak info with you that just helped me and my vtak issues.

1. Connect yor Vtec Oil presure wrie into the vtec solenoid wire.(make sure its the wire from the ecu you plug into the solenoid wire)

That will send a signal to the ecu telling it that there is oil presure.(just make sure you have oil in there)

2. Now let yur car reach proper operating temp. (radiator fan comes on)

3. Now rev the car to Vtec range ad keep it there.

It will either work or not.

If it doesnt, here is how you can do a test to see if its ecu related.

1. Make a single connection to the solenoid and have a wire that connected to it that you can stick on the poitive battery terminal.

2. Let car heat up to proper temp and make sure there is oil in it.

3. Now rev your motor by grabing the throtall body spring and pulling it so it opens. Now get it reving pretty high.

4. Stick the Tec solenoid wire on the positive battery terinal.

If your vtec cracks, then its your ECU. If not then its your solenoid valve. Replace it and try the above steps again.

It may take a few shots with battery terminal to get it cracking. I just did a swap, and like you had no codes but couldnt get the Vtech cracklakin. I did this and the Vtec solenoid valve must have been crusted shut and just needed a little effing with to get it uncrusted. Now I got my vtech cracking. Its great.

Now I got get my Vtech to learn speed dial and Im good to go.

You never considered just trying out a known "good" solenoid or ECU? Neither are hard to swap out.

I already swapped out the solenoid.

I don't have a spare ECU laying around to try.

Ok, I ran the vtec light and it is coming on at around 5200rpm as indicated by my stock tachometer.

Now, I assume that if the vtec light is coming on, the computer is telling the motor that all systems are go, correct?

That leaves only two things left. Low oil pressure or a mechanical problem with the rocker arms.

I guess I need to get the rest of the things I need for my oil pressure gauge.
