water temp gauge spiking...electical problem?
A friend of mine is having problems with her accord. I've never even heard of this but the water temp gauge is spiking (instantly). It will spike up to hot and come back to normal in like one second.
I drove it around and it did it only once. And it wasn't under heavy load.
I'm guessing it's an electrical problem myself (loose connection).
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There's a sender for the temperature gauge, usually on the head near the distributor. It's got only 1 wire. Look for some open insulation, rubbing somewhere. If you short that wire to ground the gauge will peg hot. A loose connection will send the gauge to the cold end of it's scale.
Of course, once that wire goes into the harness, it's gonna be difficult to look for worn insulation...
