I stumbled upon a very unusual situation with my new Integra build. It's a fully built GSR CSS block, Pistons, Rods, Valvetrain, GSR Head, G30-770 turbo. The car is at 500whp on E85 and has been running amazing.
We took the car on a 30 minute drive last weekend and on the highway at 70mph with the A/C on the coolant temps slowly started creeping up to 220. As soon as I saw 218f, I pulled over and shut the engine off. I let the fans run for about 2 minutes until the engine heat soaked to 230f. I start the car back up to cycle the coolant and the temp dropped to 200 in about 30 seconds. We continued our drive and about 5 minutes later had to do the same thing.
We eventually made it to the exit and while sitting at the light, the temps went back down to 190. We finished the drive and the car was still running fine. I handed out rides to some friends before heading back home. The car ran fantastic and everyone enjoyed it. By the time we left it was nighttime so the outside temps were around 85f. The car was now at 195f the entire way home on the highway. We did a decent pull with 8.5s 60-130 for a datalog before getting off and heading home.
Car was still running great at this point. I parked the car and called it a night.
Next day we get back in the car to go grab lunch and before I could even leave the neighborhood, the coolant hit 220f. I shut it down at the end of my road and let it cool off to 190. I immediately turn back around and go home. About a minute later by the time I make it home it's back at 215 again and rapidly climbing. I shut the car down and let it cool off for a few hours. I pop the radiator cap and the coolant is full with no signs of fluid mixing.
I checked the oil which still looks fresh. The engine runs fine with no smoke out of the exhaust. Now it can't run for more than 2 minutes without the temps hitting 210+. I replaced the thermostat and bled the system but that didn't fix anything. It seems like a odd way for a head gasket to blow or a head to warp so I'm unsure of what to do next before tearing the engine down.
