Default vtec not engaging

what's up.I got an h22 and vtec won't engage. I have a check engine and wen I jump it,it gives 1 long blink. that code I think is an o2 sensor but I have a new one installed.I also don't have my iacv connected but it doesn't give me a code for that.if nothing works I was thinking of controlling vtec manually by a button....any help would be appreciated. otherwise without vtec it still moves but it performs better with it....

By engaging VTEC with a button (power directly to the solenoid), you will not get the full performance of it because I do not think the ECU will change the fuel map for VTEC and you will be running on the regular fuel map = poor VTEC performance.

According to Hondata, the ECU has a different fuel map/table for when it engages VTEC. I do not think it will load up this fuel map if you just power up the solenoid...

Any other codes you might be getting? Did you manually test the solenoid?

vtec solenoid works fine.me and my boy tested it out hooking it up directly with two wires and just tapping it reaching a certain rpm..I noticed a big difference but other wise I don't get a cel for nothing else...it would be better to have vtec open wen its suppose to but if I can't get it corrected i'll just have to do the button trick.and only pop vtec wen I have too...

my buddys wasnt working and someone told him the filter on the solenoid maybe clogged, so we took it off and cleaned it with an air hose and it worked fine after that
