Default VTEC non-engagement

I recently did an H22a engine swap and 5-speed conversion in my '96 accord. Before I had done the 5-speed conversion, my vtec was working fine, but now won't engage. The odd thing is that it's not throwing any CEL's and the connector to the vtec solonoid is fully connected.
Does anyone have any idea as to why vtec wouldn't engage? I really don't have any clue where to start... any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx!

Going out on a limb here, but did you change the ECU to a manual ECU? Seems like your problem lies somewhere within the conversion. Only things that might be affected by that would be the ECU, and I don't know, but I don't think the VSS would be different.

Good luck. Hope you can get a better answer.

~bump...

what about from an electronics standpoint? what should I be looking for? what voltage should I be reading at the vtec solonoid? (5V or 12V?) and... (this might sound ignorant on my part, but...) would not having a manual ECU really cause vtec not to engage? I would have thought that by having an OBD I ECU, it wouldn't matter whether it was manual or automatic... 'cause all the transmission "electronics" are controled by the TCM... which is no longer in use, being that it's a manual. But who knows... maybe I'm completely off in left field... in which case, someone please set me straight.
Thanx in advance for your help.

Change your ECU to manual.
