How do u konw when vtec kicks in, does it have a distinct sound or waht? I have a B16A2 motor in a civic hatch.

Generally around 5500 rpm.

The exhaust and intake notes will change to a higher pitch.

 

will there be a BIG power difference or not??

 

in a sohc you'll hardly know the difference. however, in a dohc you should both hear and feel it. If you have a intake you'll really notice it...If you don't hear it its probably not working. I don't how you installed this...Did you have a Si ECU or did you hard wire the VTEC?

In my wifes sohc though you can really hear and feel it.
