Default VTEC-E Question

I'm looking for a realtively inexpensive way to boost the performance of my 95 Civic VX. Would a larger throttle body and intake help much? How much of the valvetrain would have to be swapped in order to get all 16 valves opening at lower revs?

Should I just save my money for a GSR swap? (I had the money for the swap until Tuesday, when I had to pay the IRS $4500...oops)

Just save your money. You will just be throwing your money down the toilet on a D-series. Flame all you want, it is the truth.

I'm not mad at the Y8. I think it is a cool motor. I really like the Y5. However it is obvious this guy wants a swap. Therefore I don't think he will be happy with anything that he could do to this motor in comparison to just getting a B-series.

1BlackHatch, you are right about me really wanting a B series. There's no doubt in my mind that I'll be swapping the motor by mid summer. For now I just wish I could set my cruise control and go up a hill on the highway without having to downshift. Have any of you driven one of these before? The intake is about the same diameter a a magic marker, and the transmission is to tall that 3rd gear@3000RPM gives me ~70MPH.

Oh well, I guess the gas mileage will help me save up for a swap faster. That's a bit ironic, don't you think?

Yeah. I owned a 92 vx. I loved it. You could drive it like you stole it and still get like 40mpg.

if you really wanted to you could build that vx to be just as fast as a b sieries. faster even, depending on what b engine. just do a mini me swap, or even then just drop in a new cam and get a new ecu. then you will be like a z6. i have seen some fast *** vx's. so yea get a ne tb and intake. it will help. but you need a new cam and ecu.

I'm hardly hating. I am just saying that if he wants a swap then building his present motor is pointless.
