Default VTEC coolant Reservoir overflow

Alright when under normal driving everything is OK, but when I hit VTEC I get coolant overflow. My coolant reservoir actually fills up and overflows not really boiling over, but my temp gauge does not go up at all. Could I have a blown head gasket? I've seen a couple of post about NOS causing excess pressure and blowing through a crack in the gasket but could VTEC cause the same, does it increase the pressure in the combustion chamber that much...

OR maybe just as simple as a bad radiator cap.
