Firstly, apologies if this post isnt in the right place, new here, will try not to be too much of a noob. Second, I have a D15B running a P28 that keeps throwing code 17 for the VSS. the speedometer/odometer work just fine and ive got no other issues to speak of. Have tried 2 brand new sensors with the same result. The problem seems to be pretty random, as sometimes it takes a few miles for the CEL to come on and other times it happens within a few seconds of startup. any help is appreciated!

 

Look for connection problems at either the VSS plug, [make sure terminals are tight] at the cluster and ECU, a little WD40 will help if there is corrosion. 94

 

if the speedometer is working then the vss is working, which means you have a wiring issue anywhere from the vss to the ecu, and possibly the ecu itself is bad
