Vibration when downshifting
Alright heres the deal
When i downshift from 5th, to any gear, if i let the clutch out slowly so it doesnt jerk as much theyre will be a vibration, not a terrible one, but a slight vibration throughout the car, anough to shake change laying in my cup holder and things like that.
Also if i upshift to gears and let the clutch out slowly it will do the same thing.
My car did this with my old LS tranny, i just put a B16 tranny in recently, and it still does it, so i know not the tranny itself.
My clutch grabs fine and releases like it should, it grabs every gear like it should so i dont think its the clutch, even though it is a crappy ebay F1 racing clutch or whatever the hell theyre called, I bought the car with it so its not part of my doings anyway.
Could this be crappy engine/tranny mounts? Could this be my throwout bearing?
At idle when in neutral with the clutch out i can hear a spinning/chattering sound, and i push the clutch in and it goes away, so i know i probably need a new throwout bearing, but could this be causing the vibration to? I wouldnt think so, but i guess anythings possible
Anyone else had this same experience and knew what the problem was?
Thanks in advance.

you got either a crappy clutch ,warped flywheel,or it's biting like a performance clutch

You're not shifting correctly, when you downshift at least.
Before you engage the clutch (after sliding into a lower gear), you should be "blipping" the throttle - tapping it to put the revs up where it will engage smoothly. After you kick the revs up, and before they fall again, you can get your foot off of the clutch pedal and coast away smoothly. Eventually you will learn to kick the revs up to exactly where they need to be before you engage the clutch. Your car will LOVE you for it, and it's especially handy when you try to speed-racer it around a corner.
The way you're downshifting is likely wearing your flywheel/clutch out prematurely, especially if you've been doing it forever.

I know what rev matching is, and i can do it perfectly i just dont do it alot. Thats not the "Correct" way to downshift, its just the best way. It still shouldnt vibrate like that either way, its probably just the crappy clutch...
but yeah i can rev match fine, im guessing the flywheel just needs resurfacing from the way it seems.
And i bought the car like this, its been doing it since i bought it, its not a result of my driving. Ive only put maybe 700 miles on the car since ive owned it.

If rev matching is the best way, but not the "Correct" way, than what is?
BTW, my engine vibrates the car like a bastard too, but that's because i have aftermarket mounts and inserts.

If rev matching was the only correct way, then you'd see grandma's driving around with there 88 4 dr accord beaters revving up to 5k to downshift to 2nd all day.
I dont see really no "correct" way to downshift, but theres a good way on you're clutch, and a bad way.
And you saying you have aftermarket mounts and inserts may be telling me my inserts are shot to hell basically lol i should try the ghetto poleurathane route

Just because people who don't know any better don't do it, doesn't mean that's it's still not the correct way. I see people lugging, short shifting, and riding the clutch in standard transmissions all the time, does that mean that "not riding" the clutch isn't the "correct" way because not everyone does it?

If the noise stops when you put your foot on the clutch, the problem is in the trans as the input shaft is slowing and stopping. If it was your TOB, it would make noise with your foot on the pedal. Chances are your ISB's or other trans bearings are shot which accounts for the "chatter" your getting on shifting, because the mainshaft/countershaft isn't being supported correctly.

I should also mention something about my mounts. I'm running Innovative B swap mounts in my civic, and I'm running a 75a polyurethane insert. At certain low rpm under engine braking, my rear and sideview mirrors are completely useless.
If you end up running a stiffer insert, you may actually hav MORE vibration

well i know its nothing inside the transmission itself, unless i got two trannys that have the same problems... i had a LS tranny, it did the same ****, now i have a b16 tranny, it does the same **** to, identical vibrations. So im thinking its mounts or clutch one...
I shoulda changed the TOB while my tranny was out just incase
