Default Versable VSS sensor

Does anyone know if a 97 Jdm Type R VSS sensor should work for a 95 US B18b trannie. I am getting a cell and need to find one for a replacement.

The gears should be the same, but you might want to count the teeth just to be sure. Usually the electronic (top) part is what fails.

I was just wondering cause i installed the top sensor part and it is still not working so i was thinking either it was a different sensor type or maybe the gears were different. Any kind of trouble tips would be great.
