if you're worried about debis coming in through a scoop, then what about the stuff that may come up through the bottom of an engine bay... like fuzzy little kittens crossing the roads or leaves that get blown around as you drive 65 mph over them... so to answer you question its not something to worry about if it's actually a functional scoop leading into your intake... well you best have an airfilter on... just like if you have a CAI... back in the muscle car era the scoops on some cars could be opened and closed in the cabin (just thought i'd mention it) and the spacing hinge idea, if you mean to space it so the rear end of the hood sticks up, well that would run on the same idea as a cowl induction type scoop (open towards the windshield) and if it lifted the front, well once again its just a scoop, a really long skinny scoop, plus then they have to deal with making the body lines match so it looks good... hth
vented hoods can go to hell!! i used to have one on the teg (dont hate me) and water would sit in between the cam lumps(?) on the valve cover, seep down into the plug wells and **** up my plug wires. nothing i could do would stop it, so i opted for an oem c/f hood as a remedy. i hate vented hoods.
i think it depends on if ur car is ment to have a vented hood, hence water would be sittin on the cam *lumps*. i doubt acura meant to have the integra have a hood scoop. i'm sure subaru and mitsubishi know wat there doing when they make a car with a hood scoop. they position the engine components differently. just my .02 worth.
